**Plumber** **Pay Rate - $24 - $31/hr.** **Job Description** The role involves maintaining, managing, and ensuring the smooth operation of all plumbing systems within a community college setting. This includes hot and cold-water systems, gas lines, sewer systems, and storm drains. **Responsibilities** + Maintain all plumbing systems, including hot and cold-water systems, gas, sewer lines, and storm drains. + Inspect existing systems for proper operation and repair sinks, stools, urinals, water fountains, ice machines, and floor drains as needed. + Manage an inventory of tools and spare parts. + Plan jobs with cost estimates and order materials after consulting with the Assistant Director of Facility Services. + Use and operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment typical of large facilities. + Be available on call 24/7 throughout the year. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Essential Skills** + Proficient in plumbing, including working with PVC, PEC, copper, and iron piping. + Experience in installation and construction. + Knowledge of motorized maintenance equipment and safe working practices. + Strong reading and writing skills. + Good interpersonal and communication skills. + Ability to work independently and follow written and oral instructions. + Capability to read simple diagrams and perform routine preventative maintenance. + Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. + Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + High School diploma or GED with trade school training in plumbing. + Master plumber's license or five years of experience in a large physical plant. + Valid driver's license with a clear motor vehicle record. + Experience working with copper, PVC, PEC, iron pipe, and glass. + Experience in an educational or community college setting is preferred. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy the unique benefit of free tuition for yourself and your children, fostering personal and professional growth. **Work Environment** The work involves maintaining a community college, with some areas being climate-controlled and others not. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with shifts from either 6:00 am to 2:30 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Flexibility is required to meet operational needs, which may include evening and weekend hours. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $23.76 - $31.00/hr.
