Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Louisville, KY
Shift Hours: Full-Time, Day Shift
Our client, a well-established leader in custom machinery and automation solutions, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects from concept to completion, collaborating with vendors, manufacturing teams, and end users to deliver high-quality, effective solutions. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Develop and update solids-based designs using AutoCAD Inventor (SolidWorks also acceptable)
Collaborate with end users to gather requirements and ensure designs meet operational needs
Partner with vendors to specify and purchase components and solutions
Generate bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing drawings for production teams
Work with manufacturing staff to troubleshoot and resolve design or vendor-related issues
Maintain and update technical documents, specifications, and design files
Independently manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and end users through clear written and oral communication
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Proficiency in solids-based design software; AutoCAD Inventor preferred, SolidWorks acceptable
Demonstrated ability to gather and translate user requirements into functional designs
Strong vendor management and problem-solving skills
Experience generating BOMs and technical drawings for manufacturing
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
