Job Summary

Holy Cross Academy is a vibrant Catholic school community serving students from preschool through 8th grade, with over 500 students enrolled. Our  Early Childhood Campus , located in  Affton, Missouri , serves children ages 2–5 and provides a nurturing, faith-based environment that fosters learning, creativity, and growth. The After School Program Assistant will support the care and supervision of children ages 2–5 during the afternoon program. Working collaboratively with a team of 2–3 staff members, assistants help create a fun, safe, and engaging environment. Responsibilities include supervising indoor and outdoor play, assisting with snacks, and facilitating age-appropriate activities. This position is ideal for high school or college students interested in early childhood education or those seeking part-time, meaningful work in a supportive setting.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage children in a variety of activities including games, block building, storytime, and art projects

• Lead or assist with physical activities such as parachute games, “Simon Says,” bike riding, and outdoor play

• Monitor children during snack time and ensure a safe, inclusive environment

• Support diapering, potty training, and restroom supervision as needed, based on age group

• Maintain a clean and organized space, including wiping tables and cleaning floors after snacks and activities

• Build positive, friendly relationships with families during child pick-up

Job Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old to apply

• Ability to manage and supervise groups of 6–10 young children

• Comfortable navigating stairs and outdoor playground surfaces

• Ability to sit on the floor or in small chairs to interact with children

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly

• Completion of  Protecting God’s Children training and Archdiocesan background check (provided upon hire)
